The Ramblings of Levi Cichorz

I KIngs 6-22; II Kings 1-5

So the story of Naaman is a preachers dream. You’ve got the famous guy who has everything and is doing good. O, except for one problem he has leprosy. It was like the curly hair on the Reuben sandwich kinda thing. You know it is a beautiful sandwich and looks so good but it has a little hair that isn’t from you laying right between the sauerkraut and thousand island dressing. You have his arrogance that says Elisha should come out to see me and aren’t my rivers better then your rivers? I will bring enough money to pay for my cleansing because I’m rich. Elisha then slaps Naaman between the eyes by not accepting anything and asking Naaman to do something minuscule to be healed. Then you have Naaman in his humility acknowledging the One true God and devoting himself to Him.

You see I see it all the time. I’m good enough and if I’m not then I’ll just do more things and become richer and more popular and blahh, blahh, blahh! Then when they recognize they are sick, diseased and in need they come and seek healing but aren’t willing to listen to what you have to say. Well I’ll say a prayer but I’m not gonna confess or I’ll confess but I’m not meeting Him on His terms in Baptism I’m good right here. And if they get through that then the real story begins because they are humbled when they realize that there is one God who loves them right then and wants them to be saved from the sickness and death they are carrying with them.

I Love this story and could preach it over and over again.
