Psalm 94
Ever wish God would strike someone down? Ever wish that lightning bolt would shoot from the cloud and consume that fast food employee that is so rude behind the counter?
Well in Psalm 94 that is what the psalmist is praying for. He asks God how much longer God will you hold off from getting your vengeance upon these despicable people. Then he goes on to point out how God doesn’t forget His people and in the times of trouble He is our strength and refuge.
I am glad we serve a God who doesn’t listen to our every cry for vengence against those who wrong us. If He did 3/4 of the town of Washington, NC may be a pile of ash. I’m also glad that God doesn’t neglect us His people in our time of trouble. I always think of this as a Castle people may batter our outside walls but they can’t hurt our interior. What I mean is this people can attack the body and harm us physically but it takes us letting them in for them to harm us spiritually or emotionally or on the inside. Does that make sense?
God thank you for being my refuge and Fortress!
